April 2024: Reusing by swapping

Reusing by swapping toys ,clothes or books is a great way to get new things for many reasons. If you swap toys/books/clothes you don’t use any more with someone else, you are both getting something new and reducing the amount of waste. Whenever you want a new toy or book or piece of clothing, see if you can trade with your friends to reduce waste and really make an impact on helping the Earth.Watch our video to find more information.

March 2022: Plunge for Elodie

Join us in taking the Plunge for Elodie! Help raise money for research into new ways to treat and care for people, like Elodie, who are living with EB. All you need to do is jump in a pool, run into an ocean, dunk in the bathtub or find another way to splash water on your head. And, most importantly, make a donation at plungeforelodie.org to raise money for EB research.

November 2021: climate change

This month, we’re focused on ways we can help slow climate change. Here’s a video to explain more.

As you might have heard in the video, I said I talk about some amazing facts about climate change. First I will tell you a bit about it.Climate change is when the planet gets warmer. This is caused when fossil fuels are burned and go up into the atmosphere of air. Normaly the atmosphere lets sunlight in and traps heat, heating the planet up. But now the more gases up there, the more heat the atmosphere traps. Here are some facts about climate change…

  • In earths orbit there is128,000,000 pieces of space junk floting there!

  • in making one burger, use enogh water for all your showers for 2 moths if you usally takea 3 yers all your drinking water for 3 years and 4 months if you drink around 8 glasses a day and all your toilet flushes for 4months!

January 2021: honor Martin Luther King, Jr.

This month, we’re talking about Martin Luther King Jr. and everything he fought for. We’re also talking about how racism still exists and what we need to do when we see it. The kids can’t believe people are treated differently because of their skin color - they haven’t had to experience that firsthand. I hope they will be able to speak up if they see racism in the future.

How are you honoring Martin Luther King Jr. this month? Let us know — share with #GiveBackTogether on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

March 2020: get planting

Many of us are spending lots more time at home these days, giving us a great opportunity to get cracking on the garden. We found a pack of wildflowers a few days ago and decided to get to it. Watch for more.

Join us! Order wildflower seed packets online to help bring back the bees, and throw in a few veggie seed packs as well. We’ll all be living off the land in no time! Let us know how it goes - share with #GiveBackTogether on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

January 2020: give away what you don't need

We're thrilled to be starting our third year of Give Back Together and hope you’ll join us in giving back this year!

January is the perfect time to go through old clothes, toys, books and other household items to donate what you don't need. Once our kids get over the initial shock of parting with something they’ve forgotten about (but now it suddenly seems impossible to live without), they get excited to put it in the bag and help it find a new home. It’s great for all of us to remember that we don’t need as much as we think we do!

So if you have a busy week, not to worry - you have all month to get some activities in! Our kids had fun putting some suggested activities together for the rest of 2019 but of course feel free to come up with your own as well. And let us know how it goes - share with #givebacktogether!
